Commonly, after the breakup we feel like we lost our everything; our biggest emotional investment, our most precious treasure. Sweet dreams turned into nightmares, fairy tales become a horror. This could probably be the worst days of our lives. But, who can ever say that all those heartaches we have experienced have actually something good to bring into our lives. After going through a painful breakup, here are five of the positive truths that you might not have realized yet.

1. YOU HAVE BEEN FREED. FREEDOM IS YOURS.

The truth is you are no longer happy with your relationship, it is already hurting you so badly, and it is bringing out the worst side of you and just staying in that relationship is like being imprisoned in a jail with no options and control over matters. Well, then congratulations you are finally free.

2. YOU HAVE OVERCOME DEFEAT. YOU WON

A relationship is a battle, and you are the conqueror trying to be part of someone’s life. Sadly you lost the battle when you broke up. However, life said battles do not end there. It’s just one of the many battles that will come to your life. You might have lost in trying to be part of his life, but you won the challenge of making a big decision that will make your lives better. You overcome defeat the moment you said to yourself that life must go on without him and you won because you were one brave enough to accept and make that change.

3. YOU WILL REGAIN YOURSELF

Perhaps you think you have changed a lot since you became a couple. You lost yourself in the process of being someone to someone’s life or because of wanting to please your partner. You gave up doing your routines just to have more time with him. His hobbies became your hobbies, his favorites became your favorites, while your own hobbies and favorites became just a second option to his. Now, you can go back to the old you and be yourself again.

4. WILL MEET A BETTER PERSON

Graham Bell once said, “When one door closes, another door opens…” Same with relationships, when one ends, another one will come in the right time, right place, and with the right and better person of your choice. This time, you can correct the mistakes you have done in your past relationships.

5. IT’S TIME TO GROW. BE INDEPENDENT.

Finally, you can now stand on your own. Be independent. Make decisions on your own. Let’s admit it, it feels good to have somebody that you can always rely on. But it never feels good when you realize that you’re no longer growing because you have become too dependent to someone. Can you still remember when was the last time you did a big thing for yourself?: Brought your car to shop for a check, choose the company you want to apply and work for. Wasn’t him doing all the stuff and deciding all these for you? Do you still know what’s best and not for yourself? Well, now you take the full responsibility.

Breakup is a devastating situation we all don’t want to happen and to experience. But, when the worse come to happen just remember that things do happen for a reason and for the better. When people leave you, good and greater things are going to happen. In every circumstance, look at the brighter side.
